Author, Screenwriter, Comic Book Writer/Letterer, Artist

Over the years I’ve received a number of wonderful emails and questions, and while I appreciate folks reaching out, I want to address some of the more frequently asked questions I receive. Hence a cunningly named F.A.Q.

Q. Can I send you story ideas/screenplays etc…?
A. While I do appreciate you wanting to share your ideas with me, I respectfully ask that you don’t send me unsolicited scripts or pitches. I will not/can not read anything emailed to me. Legal issues and all that fun stuff. This protects both of us.

Q. Would you like to partner up on a novel, comic or screenplay?
A. While I’m currently not actively looking for additional collaborations, do feel free to reach out. We’ll see if it is possible to create magic together. Keep in mind that my schedule is packed with novels, comics and screenplays at the moment, so my time for more projects is limited.

Q. Can I hire you to letter my comic?
A. Absolutely! Please drop me a message and we can talk page rates.

Q. Is Death Just Wanted To Eat Waffles ever coming out?
…Will you finish it?
…Are you going to pull a George RR Martin?
…Is this your Winds Of Winter?
A. Yes, yes, no, no (but the sales would be nice). Death Just Wanted To Eat Waffles is currently my top priority to finish. Unless edits are required, I am caught up on my screenplays and issue #4 of Shadowblade is still a ways off. I am deep into writing and have about 150 pages I’m happy with. This WILL be finished. I’ve worked too hard on the story and characters to let it go. It won’t be 15 years, I promise. Maybe one more? After book three is completed, I will be working on audio books for all three.

Q. Are you available to present at my Con?
A. Absolutely. I’ve done numerous presentations on Star Wars video game history, the Star Wars saga, zombie movie history, creating with Bipolar disorder, creating believable dialogue etc… Please reach out!

Q. Are you available for a book signing?
A. Yes! Outside of writing, this is one of my favorite parts of the creative journey. Let me know where and when and which of my projects is of interest to you!

Q. Do you use AI at all?
A. You want to know if AI is being used in the works of author Craig W. Chenery. Is that correct? Kidding!!! No, I do not use AI in my writing. It’s gross. The Oceanview Trilogy was started in 2015, waaaaay before generative AI and my writing style is consistent across all three books. Now, if I’m suddenly churning out ten screenplays and three novels a year, you are welcome to challenge that claim!

Q. Can I pitch you my marketing skills from an unsolicited email?
A. So, here’s the thing with that. Yes/No. I know how to do internet research. You are welcome to solicit me, but be aware I will dig deeper.

  • I will reverse image search your profile picture. If it’s being used by 30 other people, the answer will be no. In fact, if it’s being used by 2 other people, the answer will be no.
  • If you use a Gmail address with a name that doesn’t match the display name, the answer will likely be no. If you use a Gmail address with a name that doesn’t match the company name, the answer will be no.
  • If your sole market outreach is a Fiverr account with four gig reviews, the answer will be no.
  • If I can review my website stats and determine where you are located prior to emailing me, and you are from Lagos Nigeria, which appears to be the new scam capital of the world, the answer will be no.
  • If you send me a 3,000 word pitch for your services which is quite clearly AI generated, the answer will be no.
  • If you claim to have an outreach of 25,000 people and you posts get 1 or 2 likes and no comments, the answer will be no.
  • I will dig through your website with a fine tooth comb. I know how to spot fake reviews, fake staff, fake locations, fake phone numbers.
  • P.S. I have a degree in computer forensics and I enjoy putting it use 🙂
