One of the writing projects I’ve been slowly picking at for a while is my first sci-fi novel. The first 200 pages are done, and it is the exact kind of novel you would expect me to write given my love of Star Wars, Firefly and dark humor. But where I’ve struggled on this project has been the title. I couldn’t find it and thus I was never able to fully see the soul of the story.

For me, the title is everything. It guides me to where I am and where I am going. I just couldn’t figure it out. I went through seventeen titles and kept treading water. Each title dragged the story in a direction that didn’t true to the story I wanted to tell. Nothing felt right and when I wanted to talk about it, I couldn’t speak with confidence as I didn’t fully understand it.

Until this week.

I have found the perfect title. This is the one. This is the one that screams ‘me’. This is dark side, my funny side, my sci-fi side.

So, with that, I’m very pleased to announce my upcoming sci-fi novel is called…

“The Galaxy is Trying to Kill Us (Again)”. Yeah, this is absolutely perfect.
